Today’s tip is all about angle of attack when you’re using a launch monitor and how you use that angle of attack to hit straighter out on the golf course.

Let’s Get One Thing Straight

I think the big misconception with angle of attack is people think they have to hit down or they have to lift up. Really, angle of attack is just how the club approaches the ball.

But if you think about a pendulum, at some points it’s going down, then it’s level, then it’s going up. To hit your straightest drives out there on the golf course, you want to be very level, especially when you need it to have an accurate one.

Recommended Driver

You could use the 3-wood, but I'm using the Teeless Driver - this thing is awesome.

It kind of looks like a driver, but it allows you to tee it low or hit it off the deck. It’s got 13° of loft so you’re getting a little more speed.

The Technique

I really just want to hit that fairway finder and I'm really focused on this. Very shallow approach, very level into the ground. That's going to help me on the course because I don't have to think ``this way” or “that way”. So let's give this a try.

Nice hit - 163 ball speed, 250, and my angle of attack was 1° down. Let’s try one more, get that a little more level.

So what do I want to do if I'm hitting a little down? Do I want to hit up?

No - just barely move it in your stance, a little towards your front foot. Swing very level, and this will help that angle of attack level out.

.31 on the angle of attack - so basically zero - 255 carry. That's what I’m looking for out on the golf course, a very level angle of attack is going to help you hit it more accurately out on the golf course.
